Another baby hat - same baby

So I told you that I didn't know if our friends had a boy or a girl. So i knitted a pink hat too. Well the baby is a beautiful girl! Congratulations to her parents - she is a joy.

Here is baby Eliana (hope I spelled that right.)

The hat is the Vine lace baby hat from Knitting Daily.

Our friends decided that they would like both hats. I am glad they kept the blue one too - it's such a pretty pattern.

Always amazed by other knitters

It has been almost a year since I learned to knit. I am continually amazed by what you can do with 2 sticks, and some yarn.

Case in point - look at this!

This if from Brooklyn Tweed - A really beautiful blog.

This is a stunning blanket, that started out as a doily.

I am definitely going to knit this soon.

I am really glad to be home.
hopefully I will have some pictures posted in the next few days

Also I finally received my invitation to Raverly. WooHoo! I can't wait to play around with it.

Baby Hat

while procrastinating the finishing of the thumb gusset on the Wine & Roses Mitt, I knit a cute little hat for a brand new baby. Sorry don't know his/her name yet - will update when I do (hopefully with a picture of baby wearing the hat)

Congratulation Ari & Jessica!

The pattern is free from Libby Knit Kins - it's the Garmisch Hat.
I knitted it on 5 size 2 DPN's, and the yarn was Lion Brand Micro Spun - color Lilac.

Good news everyone!

I finally finished the second Wine & Roses mitt. I am really pleased with how they turned out, and the Alpaca yarn is so warm. I can't wait till it's cooler to wear them. Thanks JoLene for your beautiful pattern!

1 down, 1 to go

I finished the first mitt a few days ago, and started the second. I am taking a little time off to wind all of my yarn hanks/skeins into balls.

7/19/2007-----

Update - I finished the main part of the second mitt. I just have to finish the thumb gusset.

Also how excited am I that JoLene found my little website!

Look people, do you see it?

So I am 12 rows into the 26 row chart - All is going well so far. You can actually start to see the lace pattern. Now as long as I don't have to rip out any more rows, I won't go insane.

Swift in action

Here are a few pictures of my new swift - holding a very beautiful skein of Great Adirondack Sireno - Colorway Serengetti. I love the swift, and the yarn is amazing.

New toy

My yarn swift came today from Joann.com (50% off coupon) woohoo! It took less than 10 minutes to wind a ball - this task used to take at least an hour (sad.) I will post some pictures of it in action after kids are in bed.

Also still working on mitt #1 of the wine & roses mitts - by the time I make #2, I will be an expert. Ha!

Wine & Roses progress

Well the pattern is easy enough to read, but for some reason I am having trouble knitting it. I guess I will have to make more than 2 - I really want to see the pattern on these, it is a beautiful pattern.

------Update 12:18pm-------

I frogged the entire thing. Starting again. Argh!

Where is my dog's belly button?

I have always wondered where Winston's belly button is, after all he is a mammal, he should have one. Well after reading a bit online I found other people, just like me, looking for this very same answer. Here is what I found.

I know - I'm strange.

Thank you other knitters!

I love reading, browsing, admiring other peoples knitting blogs. I have found so many wonderful projects, and have been inspired to create things that I could never imagine.

I was looking for glove patterns, when I found Strikker - Obsessive knitting. There is an incredible vintage lace glove pattern (found here.) The pictures of the completed project are amazing! Look here and here.

There are so many other amazing knitters out there - just wanted to say thank you for your beautiful work!

I hope I don't sound too crazy.

Wine and Roses Mitts

I started working on a project for me - woohoo! It's the Wine and Roses Mitts from Interweave Knits Winter 2006 issue. I am using 2 strands of Misti Alpaca lace weight color 9311 - It's a really dark plum purple, very pretty.

Here is a picture of what the mitts look like finished - from JoLene Treace's website - she is the author of this pattern.

Back from vacation - finished projects

I finished the blanket for my nephew Jacob. I did 13 pattern repeats instead of 14, as the blanket was a pretty good size already. I used Denise Interchangeable circular needles (did not knit in the round) size 8, and 6 balls (I think) of Reynolds Saucy in color 71 Seafoam

The nautilus was made for Granny & Granpop - I used Berroco Ultra Alpaca for the face, and MCY wool silk yarn for the body, color Peaceful. The button eyes were a donation from Granny's button collection.

The blanket pattern was really easy, but I needed the break I took from it. Glad it is done now!

Finished

I just finished knitting nautie. I did 11 tentacles instead of 8, and the eyes are natural shell beads. I am really pleased with how it turned out.

I need some nautie tentacles

I finished Nautie's body and head last night. I picked up stitches to knit the head instead of knitting it as a separate piece amd sewing it together. Nautie still needs at least 6 tentacles, and eyes. I will be making more of these guys - maybe a mini one?

Nautilus progress

Here are a few pictures of my Nautie. It's too cute.

Another toy

I decided to make the knitted nautilus toy from Knitty Magazine for a friends little boy. I Just started it tonight - slow going. Now that the pattern is established I think it will turn out really neat. I think I might knit more of them, so cute!

Boys & knitted toys

Here are a few pictures of the boys playing with their toys this morning. Linus gave his finished turtle a big kiss (makes all of the work worth it.)

Turtle, turtle, turtle...

Another project from Zoe Mellor's Knitted Toys. The main body was knit from Debbie Bliss cotton angora. Other yarns include alpaca, patons grace, purple wool, and jagger spun silk wool.
Alex picked this out for his brother. Linus came up and petted his shell as I was stitching it. I seamed it together than the book called for, and also stitched between the shell hexagons. The eye are pagoda beads (vintage swarovski) from my large horde of beads. I had a fun time making toys for my boys!

Back to blanket for Jacob -

Wylo the Dinosaur

Alex asked me to make him a knitted toy. I let him pick one out of Zoe Mellor's Knitted Toys. He named it Wylo even before it was finished. It was the first time I knit anything flat, and seamed it together. Alex likes her, so thats all that matters!

I knit her with Patons Grace and a rainbow yarn I have had since I was a kid. With size 3 needles and DPN's.

He Knits!

Alex has been really interested in learning how to knit. So I bought him some needles and yarn. He did really well listening, and remembering he steps. We just need to work on holding the needles and the yarn at the same time. Alex will be 5 in August.
